That which disguises; a pretext or subterfuge. The first meaning gives us exactly what we need in this article. MASQUERADE 1. A party or assembly of people wearing masks, and amusing themselves with dancing, conversation, or other diversions. 2. Acting or living under false pretences; concealment of something by a false or unreal show; pretentious show; disguise. Here again, the second meaning gives us exactly what we need. Now we go!
