Breakfast it’s the first meal of the day to break your system of the fast of the night. It is the day’s first and most significant meal. It is usually consumed in the early morning before starting the day’s work.

Quick Breakfast Ideas

1. Rice and Chicken Sauce

Rice is a general staple and many people can’t do without eating rice at least four times in a week so it’s just normal food. Some even preferred eating it everyday.


2. Bread and Tea

The research makes us know that 80% of people  love eating it. The Bread is Made out of Flour, sugar, butter etc, while the tea is produce from cocoa and milk.


3. Egg and Yam Sauce

Nigerians frequently eat yams with egg sauce that has been boiled or fried. If you’re not careful, it can keep you full for the entire day.


4. Akara and Pap.

The Akara is also known as Bean Cake. Akara and pap is a delicacy gotten from street vendors but it is also an easy-to-go recipe that you can make from the comfort of your home. Easy to make is the ‘pap’ and it is a good accompaniment for akara.

Akara is a beans fritter made from beans paste while the pap is a paste made from grains: corn and millet.


5. Noodles and Boiled or Fried Egg

This is another ubiquitous breakfast dish. In fact, it can be served as breakfast, lunch or dinner in most Nigerian homes. It is so common that there are noodle stands at street corners dishing out delicious noodle dishes all day, all night. Noodle is so convenient, cheap and easy to prepare. In fact, in a lot of homes, this is the first dish children learn how to cook and they love eaten it.


6. Cereal

Nigerians enjoy their cereals, but the average Nigerian cannot afford them due to their exorbitant price, particularly imported ones.

Cereal doesn’t fill you up as much as other morning foods unless you eat it with other things, which is another drawback. The most popular cereal is Cornflakes, Golden Moan and Coco Pops.


7. Bread and Beans

Bread and beans also known as Ewa agoyin with agege bread is such a satisfying dish to have as breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Sold mostly in the western region of the country – Lagos, Ibadan etc. Ewa agoyin is a mashed-up beans porridge served with a special stew.


8. Okpa

Okpa is the local name for Bambara nuts. It is also the name of the boiled pudding made with the Bambara nut powder. Although okpa is very easy to make, hardly anybody makes their own okpa, rather most people feel it’s not worth the trouble to make it at home so they buy from the numerous okpa vendors. It is mostly sold in the eastern part of Nigeria. Okpa is very filling and can keep hunger away until lunch. It is excellent for diabetics.
