Nigerian Army The Nigerian army is the largest of the components of the Nigerian Armed Forces.  It has responsibility for land warfare operations.  This body is directed and organized by the Nigerian Army Council. As at present, the Nigerian army is among the most equipped of all the land forces in Africa. It is also among the largest army in the world. It has been faced with numerous challenges in the recent past, especially the Boko Haram insurgency issue. The Nigerian army was founded in 1900 and it was referred to as Royal West African Frontier Force then.  They were trained by the British and also helped the British to fight the Second World War. They fought in the Far East during the war.  By the time the Nigerian civil war was ended, the Nigerian army had grown from just 18,000 to 126,000. Many Nigerians think military men are paid heavily every month. Truth of the matter is that the amount they are being paid is far below the manner of risk they go through every

When Christianity turns a masquerade- Elekwachi Champion Joseph BA.Ed, PET, MNIM, HSE

Elekwachi Champion Joseph BA.Ed, PET, MNIM, HSE Before I write on this very contradictory topic, I will like to define some terms for clarity sake. First, Masquerade The word masquerade is derived from another word 'mask' which means: 1. A cover, or partial cover, for the face, used for disguise or protection. 2. That which disguises; a pretext or subterfuge. The first meaning gives us exactly what we need in this article. MASQUERADE 1. A party or assembly of people wearing masks, and amusing themselves with dancing, conversation, or other diversions. 2. Acting or living under false pretences; concealment of something by a false or unreal show; pretentious show; disguise. Here again, the second meaning gives us exactly what we need. Now we go! CHRISTIANITY 1. An Abrahamic religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and various scholars who wrote the Christian Bible. 2. The religion that is based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the belief

Principles of increase- Rev. Matthew Timilami

Image
Rev. Matthew Timilami What must I do to increase what I do? 1. Start from where you are and with what you have. Gen:13:14. The best place to start from is where you are. Jn:6:8-13. Until you start from the small you have you will never start in life. No human being is completely (zero) empty. 2. Give to what you do; embrace diligence. Prov:13:4, 22:29, 10:4. You have nobody to blame for failing in life. Diligence is the highway to dignity. It is your work that makes your worth. Avoid laziness and lazy people. When you work hard works will look for you. You must be serious to get serious results. 3. Live a life of investment. Jn:2:5-8, Lk:19:13-14. It is better to take risk and fail than not taking risk  at all and still fail. Investment is the highway to financial attainment as expenditure is the highway to financial embarrassment. Apply wisdom in investment. Your investment is superior to your pleasure. Rev. Timilami is the resident pastor of Assem

Elekwachi Chukwudi Champion BA.Ed, PET, MNIM, PET If what you do makes you afraid, stop it. If the situations around make you afraid, forget it and trust God. You have no justified reason to fear in life. Christianity without positive impact on humanity is insanity. Your features have a lot to say about your future. If your heart can conceive it, your hands can achieve it. Get not daunted when taunted. When the wind of life blows, put your trust in the Lord. When your NEIGHBOUR is blessed be happy and expectant, it means God is in the NEIGHBOURHOOD. Comparison is the game of fools. The sky is too wide for everyone to fly. BE YOURSELF!!! Elekwachi Chukwudi Champion Be liberal in your views. Have a broad mind in opinions, decisions and judgements. Don't be biased for any reason. Always stand your ground no matter what. Do you know that Jesus has not come just because the Gospel have not gone round the world. Have you received the gospel? You need to do it now! If you've received it, to what extent have you shared it. Tell someone 'Jesus loves you' at least ones every day. Do you know that both education, technology, security, white collar jobs, civilisation, modernisation, etc was brought to us by Christianity. How is it that we received all these (enjoying them) yet rejecting there source which is the gospel? Think twice!!!! When you thank God for His finger He shows you His hand. BE THANKFUL!!! It is criminal to expect 'full remuneration' from a job not done with 'full commitment'. Integrity pays. Elekwachi Chukwudi Champion

The Angel and the Church- Elekwachi

Image
PHOTO: Elekwachi Champion J. Chukwudi From Revelation:1:12,16,20 Can you remember John saw seven Candlesticks and seven Stars? Do you know He saw the Candlesticks before the Stars? Do you know the Candlesticks stand for the Church? and The Stars stand for the Angel of the church? (These questions will make meaning to you soon) An Angel is a proof of God's approval of the existence of any Church. Any church without an Angel is not existing as long as God is concerned. John saw the seven golden candlesticks first v:12 before the seven stars v:16 but Jesus explained the stars first before the candlesticks v:20. The Church is not as important as the Angel (Spirit) incharge of it because it is the Angel that gives report regularly to Jesus about the church. Woe to a church without an Angel because she is just occupying space here on earth. As individuals we're described as a church; hence, we also must need to be constantly and consistently represented before Go

PRESERVED AND RESERVED

Image
PHOTO: Elekwachi Chukwudi Joseph Have you wondered why some items and materials in the house look redundant? Do you think they're really useless? Could it be because of there sizes? Is it that they refused to be used? Or the owner kept them that way? Of course! The owner allowed them to be thus kept. PRESERVED The word 'preserve' connotes to protect; to keep from harm or injury. To save from decay by the use of some preservative substance. To maintain throughout; to keep intact. To keep a particular quality, feature. To make sure something is kept. However you understand it, it means to make sure that something does not spoil. RESERVED This means to keep someone/something FOR somebody/something (mark the word 'for') so that it cannot be used by any other person or for any other reason. Inasmuch as there are items/materials not often used not because they're preserved or reserved but because they are really spoilt and useless. That's

The state of priests- Elekwachi

Image
PHOTO: Elekwachi Chukwudi Joseph "It is sad, especially, when children grow wishing their parents had not been involved in Christian work because they had to grow up in serious material hardship. Unfortunately, God's provision seems inadequate for some Christian workers. Like the children of Eli (1Samuel 2), they take what God has not allotted to them. Not surprisingly, they come to a sad end! These are factors we need to bear in mind with regard to those we employ as priests and pastors in our different churches and in all other full-time Christian ministries". Culled from Scripture Union Daily Guide- Feb 15th, 2018. However, what Jesus told Peter was to FEED HIS FLOCK and not the flock to feed him. The undoing of General Overseers today is that they only pick interest in the proliferation of their denominations not minding if the priests, pastors in charge are been catered for or not. The church members on their own worsen the case by forgetting that a priest is

How Christianity lost its political power- Elekwachi

Image
PHOTO: Elekwachi Champion J. Chukwudi We lost these things when the early apostles hid themselves (for fear), exonerated themselves from the secular system (for holiness), and sold there properties (to sinners); eating, drinking and making merriments when they're not working (yet we call it 'sharing in common') This polity has been overtaken by the ungodly; people are suffering because Christians (not church goers) refused to sit up and take over in the the name of HOLINESS. I wonder if anybody will suffer if Christians (not church goers) are in charge of the civil service, politics, force, business, transport, education, etc. Today, people who claim to be holy call these things sin because they don't study (they only read) their Bible. We lost these things when the early apostles  themselves (for fear), exonerated themselves from the secular system (for holiness), and sold there properties (to sinners); eating, drinking and making merriments when they'

Elekwachi Champion J. Chukwudi speaks on Criticism

Image
PHOTO: Elekwachi Chukwudi Joseph If you're fast in life people will criticise you of being a Cheetah. If you're slow you'll be mocked for being a snail. If you fly you'll be accused of being an eagle. If you crawl you'll be scorned for being a foul. If you succeed as a business man they'll say it's ritual money. If you're a politician they'll say it's people's money. If you grow as a man of God they'll say it's Church money. When you speak they'll call you parrot. When you keep shut they'll say you're a deaf and dumb. When you act they'll say you like showing yourself. When you hide they'll say you're avoiding them. I'VE LEARNT IN LIFE THAT CRITICISM IS A COMPLIMENT. Just bear in mind that you can't avoid criticism nor please everyone. PEOPLE MUST TALK, BUT DON'T MIND THEM IF YOU'RE RIGHT!!!!! Don't allow what people say hinder you from what you should do. I WISH YOU W

The undoing of Tanker drivers

Image
PHOTOS: Fuel tanker captured at Abinsi in Guma LGA, Benue state. Many have wondered what the word 'Black market' means and the source of oil they sell. It is not a gain saying that tanker drivers often stop at certain stipulated areas to supply fuel to these black marketers at a very cheap rate, there by reducing the quantity they deliver at their destinations. There is a saying that leaders think of the next generation while politicians think of the next election; hence, a country where the lead are corrupt than the leaders; where the masses are yelling at the corrupt politicians even in their highly corrupt state, we need leaders and not politicians. Both the illegal sellers and buyers of this product will still keep saying that leaders are corrupt... I wonder who is more corrupt.

Benue killing: Corps members' lives at stake

Image
PHOTOS: Corp members serving in Abinsi Guma LGA, Benue state. The recent saga of the Fulani herdsmen in Benue state: Logo and Guma local government areas precisely has created unrest and psychological trauma to youths answering the clarion call in these areas. Corp members in Gbajimba, Agasha, Daudu and many other cities of the state are being relocated on daily basis to the state capital- Makurdi. Corpers in cities like Abinsi, Tionshisha among a others are calling on NYSC to move them as there is tension every where that the herdsmen will soon strike instead of waiting for the attacks first.

The lament of Corp members

N19, 800: A Salary, An Allowance or A Peanut. I picked up my writing materials from a bitter heart based on the suffering of the Nigerian Corp Members serving their fatherland with a monthly pay of N19, 800. Let me start from the camping exercise where it all started. An average Prospective Corp Member spent nothing less than N30, 000 to prepare for the camping exercise. Like that was not enough, we meet the extortion of our lives in the camp. We found out that the sockets in the lodges were disconnected from power supply and it was prohibited to charge our phones using any of the available sockets so that we can pay at the camp market. We went to the camp kitchen for food, and found a meal that cannot satisfy a year old baby. We went to the camp market, food and other items were so cos

Abinsi lynch: Police intervenes after many hours

Image
PHOTO: Remains of a burnt suspect in Abinsi In a country were things don't work as desired, where Police don't intervene when needed; mobs tend to be the best and closest force to take actions. It was gathered this morning that a man alleged to have burgled a shop was burnt by some angry mobs in Abinsi right opposite a police station. Abinsi is a city in Guma local government area of Benue state. Reportedly, the deceased broke into an Igbo man's shop with his gang of three, but he was the only person caught and roasted. The mobs have been ranting that it would serve as warning to others. It will be of note that Fulani herdsmen has been attacking the same local government area recently. Youth corpers serving in Abinsi are already agitating the unsafe situation of the state. Others have been asking where the police men went when a man is been burnt opposite the police station.  More details shortly
